The Rhythm Art Culture (RAC) organised a talent hunt for Qatar-based Nepali dancers at Top Form Restaurant last Friday. About 150 people attended the first audition where 10 dancers showcased their dancing skills on hip-hop, Bollywood and Nepalese folk songs.
Formed in 2014, RAC is the only Qatar-based Nepalese organisation focused on dancing. RAC trains over 40 aspiring dancers on weekends.
The first round was chaired by RAC President Kishor Tiwari. Mohammed Hussein Khan, President of Terai Madhesh Democratic Party-Qatar, was the chief guest. The programme was hosted by Kamal Bahadur Malla.                                    
Winner of the competition will get a cash prize of QR3,800. The first, second and third runner-ups will get QR2,000, QR1,000 and QR500, respectively.
Kiran Gurung and Binod Lama are the judges, and Gajendra Malla is choreographing the talent hunt.
In total, 16 dancers are vying for the winning position: Puspa BC, Dharmendra Kumar, Rana Prakash Yadav, Raj Kumar Pariyar, Subin Khawas, Shankar Lamsal, Tanka Bahadur Thapa, Shekhar Ghalan, Kamal Sunuwar, Binod Thokar, Chandra Dawadi Sunuwar, Subash Lama, Som Lama, Chainamanit Tamang, Prakash Shrestha and Santosh KC.
