When you have a culinary background spanning more than 20 years and eight countries, and experience at luxury five-star hotels around the

world, you can confidently walk in into a top Doha hotel as its new Executive Chef.
Emmanuel Pauliat has done just that as he has now taken on the mantle of the Executive Chef of InterContinental Doha The City.
When asked about the kind of plans he has in mind for expanding the outreach of the seven diverse food and beverage outlets that he would be

overseeing, Pauliat told Community, “We will maintain consistency in offering high-quality cuisine and innovation. We already have Strata, the

highest restaurant and lounge in Doha, our award-winning Prime steakhouse and Hwang Pan Asian restaurant which are unique in the market.”
“Our customers are my top priority so I look forward to working with my team to develop those creative culinary concepts that provide a truly

unique dining experience for our guests,” added Pauliat, who has also worked with a Michelin-star restaurant in France.
In his new role, Pauliat will helm the culinary operations of the hotel’s seven outlets including The Square all-day dining. In addition, he

will lead the kitchen teams for banquet and catering operations within the 525-room luxury hotel and residences located in West Bay.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chef Pauliat to InterContinental Doha The City,” said Pascal Eggerstedt, General Manager. “With his attention to

quality and guest satisfaction as well as his extensive background in French and Middle Eastern cuisine, we look forward to his influence in

taking our food and beverage offerings to new, innovative levels.”
As a French native, Pauliat’s career began in Les Eyzies France in 1991 at Auberge de la Terriere. Throughout the 90s, Pauliat continued honing

his culinary skills in various luxury hotels and restaurants in France including Relais & Châteaux and Michelin-star Auberge St-Laurent.
Pauliat has been working in the Gulf for the past decade, previously in Oman, Egypt, Kuwait and Dubai. Since 2003, Pauliat has been with

InterContinental Hotel Groups (IHG) as Executive Chef at five-star hotels across the Middle East.
“I am delighted to be joining the team at InterContinental Doha The City,” said Pauliat. “Already the hotel has an excellent reputation for

dining and I’m excited to bring my creativity and passion for culinary arts in creating the concepts we have in store for the future.”
When asked about how challenging it is for luxury hotels to set their cuisine apart, in face of such intense competition, Pauliat explained,

“As I mentioned, high-quality cuisine and consistency are important but creativity also will be the key in setting ourselves apart from the

competition. It’s all about ensuring a memorable dining experience for our guests.”
Open since 2012, InterContinental Doha The City is located in the heart of the city offering luxury accommodations with 349 guest rooms and

suites as well as 176 resident apartments. In addition to the dining and entertainment establishments, the hotel offers an Events Centre with

unrivalled facilities in a contemporary setting and a well-established reputation of delivering the highest standards of excellence.

THE PLAN: Chef Emmanuel says creativity will be key to differentiating themselves from other luxury chains around Doha.
