More than 600 people, including the low-income segment, from nine nationalities benefited from the free annual medical camp this year organised by Pakistan Professionals Forum Qatar (PPFQ).
The third annual camp was organised by PPFQ with the support of the Supreme Council of Health, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Pakistan Education Centre (PEC) and the Pakistan embassy in Doha at the premises of PEC in Mesaimeer last week.
Like previous years, the camp received an overwhelming response as patients started gathering at the venue early in the morning. As per data recorded by the organisers, the camp received over 670 people from nine nationalities, including Qatari nationals, who received treatment at the multi-specialty camp.
In order to provide access to low-income patients, special transport arrangements were made to pick and drop people from multiple locations. A dedicated team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and technicians were available to attend to patients.
“The medical camp is the flagship event of the PPFQ calendar and epitomises our mission to unite our professionals in Qatar for the betterment of our community. I am extremely grateful to HMC, its staff, our sponsors, and our volunteers for their support in making this event a success,” said Adnan Kirmani, President and Acting Chairman of PPFQ.
Shahzad Ahmad, Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar and Dr Abdul Razzaq al-Emadi, Director of Population Health at HMC, were the chief guests who formally inaugurated the camp. The chief guests and other dignitaries toured the various clinics and expressed their appreciation for the organisers for excellent arrangements.
The specialty clinics included, paediatrics, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and internal medicine available for patients all day. An ambulance was also on site throughout the day for emergency cases. All consultations, treatments and medications were given free of charge courtesy of Hamad Medical Corporation.
As a first, PPFQ introduced this time a smart cloud-based technology to facilitate patient registration and analysis that greatly assisted in streamlining the processes and logistics. “We are thankful to our technology partner CloudClinik for this support. The camp was supported by local corporates such as Al Faleh Group and Ammico,” said Kirmani.
The PPFQ seeks to promote solidarity and networking among professionals of Pakistani origin (but not limited to) in Qatar by being the leading platform for uniting its members. The forum, a non-political and a not-for-profit organisation of professionals, works to enhance cross-cultural, professional and academic ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
PPFQ states that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or caste. The organisation is managed by an Executive Committee staffed by a team of “competent and dedicated professionals who work on a voluntary basis with a desire to make a difference and a zeal to promote the objectives of the forum.”
PPFQ was founded by Chairman Dr Mazhar Monga, Consultant Obstetric Anaesthetist, trained and educated in South Africa. He brought with him 28 years of extensive experience in the field of Obstetric Anaesthesia.
Before coming to Qatar in 2002, Dr Monga worked directly for (Late) Prince Sultan bin Abdel Aziz al-Saud and was appointed Chairman of Anesthesia at Sultan Bin Abdel Aziz Humanitarian City in Riyadh.
