The annual get-together of Indo-Qapco saw some fun and serious competition

One of the Indonesian communities in Mesaieed, mainly employed with Qatar Petrochemical Company and call themselves Indo-Qapco or Indonesia-Qatar Petrochemical Company, organised the annual family get-together last weekend.

The event was presided over by the Indonesian Ambassador, Deddy Saiful Hadi, and his wife, Endang, along with several staffers from the embassy. In his speech, the ambassador thanked Indo-Qapco for inviting the embassy to join in the celebration and appreciated the efforts of the community members in taking the initiative. The ambassador valued the event as a tool to enhance the relationship and foster solidarity among the Indonesian diaspora in Qatar.

There were several contests organised as part of the event. Notable among them were the fried rice cooking competition and children’s quiz. The fried rice competition was divided into 10 groups, which each group comprising three-four participants. The participating men had a panic attack in the midst of the contest, but at the end of the game, they successfully cooked and presented some amazing fried rice. The wives of the participants loudly cheered to lend their support to their husbands who were working hard at the kitchen table.  

Later, a quiz was held for the children aged five-10 years. The children were very keen to listen and answer questions posed by the judges. The questions included topics such as religion, global knowledge, and knowledge of the national issues of Indonesia.

To further enliven the family gathering, the committee also held a door prize activity that presented a variety of exciting prizes. In the end, the prize distribution ceremony was held, where the ambassador and his wife handed over the trophies to the winners.
