Qatargas executives among others at the recent IGU-UNESCO workshop on “Women in Engineering” held recently in Paris. Qatargas participated as a sponsor at a joint International Gas Union (IGU)-UNESCO workshop. The workshop focused on women in engineering in Africa and in the Arab states. Speakers from UNESCO, Mozambique, Kenya and Nigeria represented Africa at the workshop while speakers from Egypt, Morocco, and the Federation of Arab Engineers (Arab Women’s Engineer Committee) represented the Arab states. Qatargas Human Resources manager Abdulaziz al-Mannai and head (LNG Marketing-QG3) Jupiter Ramirez participated in the workshop. Al-Mannai is the deputy chair for the Task Force 1 (TF1), one of the committees of the IGU. TFI is Task Force 1 is responsible for looking into human capital development and current and emerging challenges facing the gas industry. TF1 is charged with working various issues during the IGU’s 2012-15 triennium and delivering a report to be presented at the 2015 World Gas Conference. One of the elements of the report is promoting more women into the natural gas industry. TF1 will incorporate material from the workshop in the report to address the issue of continuing to attract more women into the natural gas industry.
