A view of the Qapco pavilion at the WPC exhibition
Qatar Petrochemicals Company (Qapco) is striving to consolidate its global marketing network by opening additional self-operated offices and regional warehouses in different parts of the world, a senior official said.
“Qapco has opened 29 regional offices and six warehouses  based on customers’ expectations in an ever increasing competitive market,” public relations manager Ahmed Yaseen al-Hammadi explained on the sidelines of the 20th World Petroleum Congress yesterday.
Qapco markets low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, ethylene, sulphur, ethylene dichloride, vinyl chloride monomer and caustic soda to over 8,000 customers spread over 145 countries.
“Such wide global exposure was instrumental in complementing the expansion plans of Qapco and Qatofin, a subsidiary of Qapco, also the effort was partly catalysed by the work which is under way to commission Qapco’s LDPE3 line which would increase its LDPE capacity from 400 KMT at present to 700 KMT per annum by mid of 2012,” the official said. After completion of expansion plans by early 2012, Qapco’s enhanced capacity would reach 1.30mn tonnes ethylene and 1.15mn tonnes of polyethylene, having made an investment of $1.7bn for recent expansions.
