Extensive studies were conducted by the Cigre in the fields of power generation, transmission and distribution in the Gulf region, he said.
The Kahramaa official  said the organisation had also held conferences and seminars to address technical issues linked to the region’s climatic and environmental conditions in recent years.
In his presentation, the Qatar official also made recommendations for upgrading and developing the GCC’s electricity networks. He also highlighted the necessity of raising the capacity of existing power stations, even while advocating the importance of having manageable networks.
In his paper, al-Najjar made some important suggestions to reduce the electricity consumption and also to reduce loads and losses arising out of transmission.
At the equipment exhibition held along with the conference, Kahramaa set up a pavilion focusing on the achievements of the state of Qatar in the power sector in recent years and also its future plans to build new projects.
