ConocoPhillips Qatar has presented a scholarship donation to Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ).
Mark H. Weichold, Dean and CEO of Texas A&M at Qatar, accepted the donation on behalf of the University in the presence of University officials and distinguished guests from ConocoPhillips Qatar at a recent ceremony at the Texas A&M Engineering Building.
Weichold noted the importance of community partnerships, saying: “Industry support for students is vital to the students’ continued growth throughout the university experience and as they seek careers. Commitment such as that demonstrated by ConocoPhillips Qatar is fundamental to development of the human capital Qatar will require as the country continues to develop and diversify.”
Erec Isaacson, President, ConocoPhillips Qatar, commented on his company’s renewed support of Texas A&M at Qatar by stating: “ConocoPhillips is committed to maintaining its support to Qatar’s growth through sustainable development of educational, health institutions and various organisations in Qatar civic society. This year’s donation is the fifth of its kind endorsing the university’s reach to provide unrestricted scholarships and financial aid to able students in the field of engineering.
“We are honoured by the recent recognition of Texas A&M at Qatar of our association for the last five years and would like to pledge our continued commitment in this respect. Texas A&M’s efforts to generate world-class engineers are essential for the growth and development of the industrial sector in general and the oil and gas industry in particular, both in Qatar and the world.”
