The book How Women Succeed will be launched at Khan Farouk Tarab Café, at the Katara Cultural Village, at 6pm today.
Sponsored by IBQ, the book is a spin-off of the annual “How Women Work Conference”, being held under the patronage of the Qatari Business Women Association since its inception last year.
Proceeds from the sale of the book will be used to provide professional development opportunities to women of limited means in Qatar.
The book features stories of accomplished women from around the world including such luminaries as Barbara Stanny and Lisa McCourt. In addition the book showcases some of the leading women working in Qatar.
The book launch will include readings by some of the authors and a retelling of the story behind how women work. The book which is now available in English will also be published in an Arabic edition later this year.
Carolin Zeitler (pictured), founder of “How Women Work Conference” said on the eve of the launch: “The book is dedicated to all working women who are unable to fund personal development projects. From our research, we are aware that there is a large segment of low income female workforce in Qatar today, which is often overlooked. The CSR initiatives like this will go a long way in empowering these women and redefining their career paths. ”
Managing Director of the IBQ George Nasra said: “We believe that how women work is an important and critical initiative to empower business women in Qatar. At the IBQ, we recognise the growing independence of women in Qatar and wish to support them through initiatives to encourage financial literacy and individual financial security.”
