Clowns performing in Circuba
Circuba, the Cuban circus show and the film Viva Cuba, are expected to be big hits with families at the first Latin American Cultural Festival (LACF) beginning at Katara today.
“The festival represents the emerging cultural community of Qatar, bringing together people from all corners of the earth. We aim to inform, educate and entertain,” Katara’s public relations manager Malika al-Shraim said yesterday.
In response to the high demand for the Circuba show taking place tomorrow (Oct 7), a total of three shows has been planned.
The LACF is to feature a total of 23 shows including music, dance and films. Circuba promises to be a breathtaking show with 27 artistes performing acts including tightrope walking, acrobatics on roller skates and unicycles.
Circuba will be held tomorrow at 3pm, 5.30pm and 8pm. Ticket prices start at QR30 for children and QR50 for adults.
The film Viva Cuba is to be screened on Saturday (Oct 8) at 11am in the Drama Theatre. Directed by Juan Carlos, the film is a comedy which follows the friendship of two youngsters caught up in a feud between their families. When one family decides to move abroad, the two children venture on a journey across Cuba, running away in hope of staying together.
The film explores issues of emigration and was Cuba’s first live action feature film addressing children. Tickets are priced QR30.
Tickets for LACF events can be purchased at Virgin Megastores from 9.30am to midnight, at both Landmark and Villaggio outlets. They can also be purchased online at
