Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday met with HE the Minister of State for Defense Affairs Major-General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah and his accompanying delegation on their visit to Turkey.  
They discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them further. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of joint interest, particularly in the military field.
Turkish Minister for National Defense Vecdi Gonul and Qatar’s ambassador to Turkey Salem Mubarak Shafi Salem al-Shafi attended the meeting.

National Day greetings sent

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani  and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov on his country’s National Day.

82% of cases settled last year
Some 82% of the cases heard by courts in Qatar last year were settled, newly released statistics reveal.
Of the 89,101 cases handled in 2014, verdicts were delivered in 73,198. In the previous year, there were rulings in 81% of the cases handled.
According to the statistics issued by the Supreme Judicial Council, the number of cases reviewed in 2014 increased by 7,932 over the previous year.
The number of verdicts, too, increased by 7,178 in the same period.
Verdicts were delivered in 99.5% of cases pertaining to bounced cheques, a rise of 2.5% from 2013.
Similarly, 98% and 97% of traffic and environment cases, respectively, were resolved in the same period.
In 2014, the number of labour cases reviewed by Qatar’s courts amounted to 7,142, 67% of which were resolved.
Meanwhile, the number of civil cases in all competent courts amounted to 29,171 and around 69% of these were resolved.
Regarding family, inheritance and minors affairs, the courts reviewed 5,700 cases. Verdicts were delivered in 74% of these cases.
In addition, there were rulings in 68% of the 817 administrative cases heard in 2014.

No respite from heat

A hot day with some clouds is expected in Qatar today, the Met office has said.
Hazy to misty conditions are also likely to be experienced in the inshore areas, towards the beginning of the day and late at night.
Partly cloudy and hazy to misty conditions will be seen in the offshore areas, according to the weather office.
Doha is likely to be the hottest places in the country today, with the maximum temperature reaching 42 degrees Celsius.
