Mowasalat will consider starting public bus services between the Hamad International Airport (HIA) and more places across Doha and as part of its route network expansion to take place in the coming months.
“The decision is being taken in view of the growing demand for the bus services among the residents,” Mowasalat Support Services executive director Nasser al-Khanji told Gulf Times.
“Though there was a fall in passenger patronage last year owing to road works across the city and congestion, things have started improving in the last few months with increased arrival of more expatriate workers for various projects in the country,” he explained on the sidelines of a press conference on Wednesday.
Mowasalat is also considering to launch bus services from the HIA to various hotels as it is done at airports in many cities across the the world, al-Khanji said.
Though no official figures are available with the company, it is estimated that around 60,000 passengers are ferried daily across Qatar in Mowasalat’s public transport buses. “On weekends, the figures are a little higher,” he observed.
On the basis of requests from passengers of Doha Industrial Area and places in its neighbourhood who sought bus services without touching the Doha Bus station, four circular and semi circular services have started operations.
They are numbered between 301 and 304. All four services are operated from the Karwa Driving School in the Abu Hamour area. At least two services cover the Religious Complex area, while one each goes to Safari Mall area and Grand Mall. Two of the services also would touch the Finger Print Office area in Ain Khalid.
While passengers from the Industrial Area could benefit from their services, some residents said they get  absolutely no relief from the four new services as they do not come anywhere near the Doha city limits.
The new services are the following:
Route 301 - Karwa Driving School-Religious Complex- Al Mansoura-Al Sadd-Villaggio Mall-Al Attiya Souq-Karwa Driving School.
Route 302: Karwa Driving School-Barwa City-Safari Mall-Abu Hamour-Fish Market-Finger Print Office (Ain Khalid)-Attiya Souq-West Industrial Area (Street 47-Street 41-Street 38)-Karwa Driving School.
Route 303: Karwa Driving School-Grand Mall-Industrial Area  Street 52-West Industrial Street 47-44-38-Al Attiya Souq-Finger Print-Safari Mall-Abu Hamour-Karwa Driving School.
Route 304: Karwa Driving School-Al Attiya Souq-Villagio Mall-Al Sadd-Al Mansoura-Religious Complex-Karwa Driving School.
