HH the Emir  Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met a number of  Arab countries’ leaders and heads of delegations participating in the 26th Arab Summit currently being  held in Sharm El Sheikh city in Egypt, on the sidelines of the meetings.
The Emir met Sudan’s  President  Omar Hassan al-Bashir,  President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud of Somalia, Sayyid Asaad bin Tareq al-Said, representative of Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman, as well as  Abdul Qadir bin Saleh, President of the National Assembly of Algeria and representative of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Discussions dealt with topics on the agenda of the 26th Arab Summit,  in addition to the latest developments in the region.
Earlier on arrival, the Emir and the accompanying delegation were welcomed at Sharm El Sheikh International Airport by President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The Arab League Secretary-General Dr Nabil al-Arabi was also present on the occasion.
In a speech upon arrival, the Emir extended to the President Sisi and the people of Egypt his wishes of  progress, welfare and prosperity.
The Emir expressed pleasure at meeting the leaders of the Arab countries taking part in the 26th Arab League Summit to exchange views and consult on all matters of concern to the Arab nation.
The Emir expressed hope that the summit would contribute to further strengthening solidarity, co-operation and joint Arab action.
In a separate meeting he held with President Sisi, the Emir discussed ways to further develop relations between Qatar and Egypt in all fields. They discussed regional and international issues, mainly the latest developments in the region.
They also discussed means of strengthening the Arab solidarity and joint action and a number of topics listed on the agenda of the 26th Arab League Summit.
In his address at the summit,  the Emir dwelt at length on the Palestinian issue, the situation in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Iran and the Gulf region.
The Emir also recalled the role of the Arab League over the last 70 years in shaping the Arab world.
Speaking on the issue of terrorism, the Emir said the world has witnessed during the past few years, the growing of the phenomenon of terrorism, and its spill-over to many Arab countries. He said it has become a serious threat to the Arab, regional and international security. He said terrorism should not be justified, whatever the reasons. “We all condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We must all work to uproot it, because it threatens our communities and  national unity”, he said.  Page 26
