HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has received a written message from President of Sudan Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir, pertaining to bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

The message was handed over by Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti when the Emir met him at his Emiri Diwan office yesterday.

Meanwhile, HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah yesterday met his Sudanese counterpart Ali Karti, who is currently visiting Qatar. 

They discussed bilateral co-operation and exchanged views on issues of joint interest.

 

Economy minister arrives in Istanbul for COMCEC meet

HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani arrived in Istanbul yesterday to attend the 30th session of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation’s Standing Committee for Economic and Trade Co-operation (COMCEC).

Qatar’s ambassador to Turkey Salem bin Mubarak al-Shafi received the minister and the accompanying delegation at Istanbul Ataturk Airport.

 

Transport minister meets Turkish counterpart

HE the Minister of Transport Jassim Ahmed Seif al-Sulaiti met Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Lutfi Elvan, on the sidelines UITP conference.

They reviewed areas of co-operation between the two countries in the field of transport.

 

QCCI to attend Morocco forum

The fourth GCC-Morocco Investment Forum and Expo will be held in Casablanca today with the participation of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industries.  QCCI President HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani and a number of Qatari businessmen will attend the the two-day forum, which will be organised by the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

 

Environment Minister to launch cleanliness drive

HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi will launch 10th National Cleanliness Campaign on Saturday.

The campaign, which will focus on cleaning beaches and islands, will last two months until January 2015 in a step to improve the spirit of volunteer work, particularly in the field of protecting the environment. 

A number of state institutions and ministries will participate in the campaign, in addition to students from universities.

The ministry has set up a committee that will plan and monitor the campaign. The committee includes representatives from different ministries such as Interior, Defence, Municipality and Urban Planning, and Supreme Education Council and Qatar Petroleum.
