Canada is keen to work closely with Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) to keep the country safe and secure, ambassador André Dubois has said.

The envoy made the statement while visiting the Milipol Qatar exhibition where he met members of the MoI’s Directorate of Industrial Security officials, including the acting director of Industrial Security, Abdulla Jamal Mohamed al-Jaber.

During the meeting, ambassador Dubois said “Canada is a hotbed of innovation and our firms are at the cutting edge of technology”.

He said Canadian firms design and manufacture a wide variety of items that Qatar could take advantage of, such as armoured vehicles, surveillance equipment and personal protective equipment.

“Our schools are also among the best in the world, and we discussed the potential of providing leadership training for MoI personnel so that they are better equipped to handle emergencies and tackle problems,” according to a communique quoting the envoy.

Dubois took the opportunity to visit each of the Canadian companies exhibiting at Milipol Qatar, including AirBoss Defense, Cambli Armored Truck Manufacturing, Fortem Solutions, Newcon Optik, VOTI, WeatherHaven, Videolatitude Inc and Avigilon.
