If  the global community does not “raise the red flag” against Israeli atrocities on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, then “anything is possible”, HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah has said.

Speaking to CNN Network in an interview broadcast on Monday, HE al-Attiyah said: “Israel cannot use highly-sophisticated military machine against children. If the world does not raise the red flag to Israel and start to bring it back from what it is doing, anything is possible.”

He called  the Israeli government  the “primary impediment” to peace, saying: “This is what they did with us, and with US Secretary of State John Kerry during the past nine months. They simply do not want to see peace. Mr Kerry had made a lot of efforts to bring peace and we have supported him and all Arabs were supportive of lasting peace.”

Al-Attiyah pointed out that two peace agreements were violated by the Israelis; and they also violated the agreement with the Palestinian Authority when they did not release the fourth batch of the Palestinian detainees.

The Foreign Minister rejected Israeli Knesset member Naftali Bennett’s allegations that  Qatar was funding the Hamas movement  and terrorism across the world. He said it was in fact Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Bennett who were practising terrorism against the Palestinian people.

Answering a question, HE  al-Attiyah said: “We do not support  Hamas, but we support the Palestinians .. and we always try to reach out to the Palestinians, whom we consider our family, and we  provide them with humanitarian aid, and through building schools and hospitals and roads .. If we consider this assistance as a tool for terrorists, then I do not know what we should say about what Israel is doing to the people of Gaza”.

On whether the Qatari relief funds allocated for humanitarian causes were being spent on other things,  al-Attiyah said: “I have to clarify this point, we do not send money to Hamas, but we send it to the people of Gaza .. we have proven that several times. For example, we have committed $450mn for the reconstruction of Gaza .. and we are building  hospitals and homes,” he said, adding: “All contractors who are in charge of our projects are from the Fatah movement and all the funds are sent via the Arab Bank in  Jordan and through the Palestinian Authority. We have documentary proof.”

He stressed that “it is not possible for anyone to accuse Qatar without evidence.”
