New post office to open in Najma

A new post office will be opened in Najma next month, a senior official said. Q-Post had recently made an announcement on its website that the post office on Abdul Aziz Street in Al Asmakh near Musheireb would be relocated to a new building on C-Ring Road. The official told Gulf Times Q-Post was all set to take possession of the building in Najma and the new branch would start there soon. “The new post office may start a week or two after Eid al-Fitr,” he said. The post office in Al Asmakh was closed in view of the commercial and residential developments taking place in the area. Page 24

HGH sees more than 500 emergency cases

The Emergency Department at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) received some 516 cases until 7pm yesterday, most of which pertained to heart and chest problems and minor stomach ailments. It also received three injury cases caused by road accidents. One of the injured is a Qatari.

A number of minor accidents took place on some of the country’s main roads, particularly those in the Doha Industrial Area, Umm Salal Mohamed and Madinat Khalifa.  Roads leading to major shopping malls witnessed traffic congestion during the evening hours.

League praise for Doha document

The Arab League has praised gains of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) on the ground in the Darfur region. Salah Halima, Arab League’s envoy to Sudan, told the official Sudan News Agency (Suna) that the efforts being exerted to implement the DDPD were sincere and what had been achieved on the ground was “an accomplishment and a big step towards a comprehensive political settlement”.

Sudan to get urgent aid

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has ordered that urgent relief aid be sent to Sudan “as an expression of Qatar’s support for Sudan and its people as they face the effects of rain and floods that hit some areas recently”, the official Qatar News Agency said yesterday.
