Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF), supported by Qatar Airways, distributed around 6,000 Iftar meals (200 a day) to those arriving at Hamad International Airport (HIA) during Ramadan, local daily Al Sharq has reported.

The initiative fell within the framework of co-operation between RAF and Qatar Airways, which also supported the provision of 700 Iftar meals every day in the Old Airport area during the holy month, the report stated.

Dr Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, executive director, RAF, said such joint projects between the foundation and the other organisations are executed as part of the Ramadan programmes of RAF.

He added that the programmes are not confined to providing Iftar meals but also include educational lectures and awareness, cultural and guidance campaigns.

Meanwhile, RAF teamed up with award-winning skincare oil, Bio-Oil, for a campaign of sharing memories as part of a charity programme.

Under the campaign, called Give and Glow, Bio-Oil would donate QR10 for every story on summer and skin, fasting and skin or the experience of using Bio-Oil shared with them. “It is a people-engaging campaign that encourages sharing and giving,” said Sandeep Sreedhar, business development/project manager (consumer), Bio-Oil.

The campaign ended on July 27 and there was no restriction on the number of entries. The memories were posted on Bio-Oil’s Facebook page in text or video format.

The total amount donated was to be handed over to RAF.

“The holy month of Ramadan is a perfect time for sharing and reflection. When you share your memory, it inspires someone to give for the needy,” said Ibrahim Ali Abdullah, director of marketing and media at RAF.

RAF has been involved in many charitable activities and the foundation’s Iftar programmes, held in association with the Ministry of Interior for expatriate communities in Qatar, has become very popular and helpful.
