Katara–the Cultural Village Foundation, in collaboration with the Palestinian-Qatari Friendship Association, will hold the Palestinian Heritage Week from today until April 29 at Building 3, Katara. The event is being organised in a bid to enhance relations and co-operation between Qatar and Palestine. It presents a glimpse of ancient Palestinian heritage through exhibitions of Palestinian crafts, pottery and copper masterpieces, ornaments, furniture as well as folkloric performances.  Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara, said: “We are happy to host the Palestinian Heritage Week with its various activities and performances, which reflect the history and culture of the Palestinian people over the ages.” The festival’s activities and attractions include popular and artistic shows such as a Dabke folk performance (Ebdaa band), folk songs (Askalan band), an exhibition of traditional crafts, a lecture on the history of photography in Palestine, with a presentation by  historian Dr Khalil Chawka, a lecture and presentation on  heritage and art by Professor George Aama, an expert and the largest collector of Palestinian art.  In addition, there is also a workshop involving Palestinian and Qatari graphic artists and a fashion show featuring traditional costumes.

 

Qatar-Uruguay ties discussed

HE the Minister of Transport Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti met Uruguay’s Minister of Transportation and Public Works Enrique Pintado, currently on a visit to Doha. They reviewed issues of mutual concern, particularly in the air transport field. Meanwhile, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA)’s CEO Ahmad bin Mohamed al-Sayed held separate meetings with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Luis Almagro and Minister of Transportation and Public Works Enrique Pintado in Doha yesterday.
