Three innovative medical equipment - Blood Circulation Analyser, Home Monitoring, Body Composition Analysis - are on a trial in Al Ahli Hospital in association with Al Sulaiman Health.

Dr Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab Hussain, senior consultant surgeon and head of general surgery and medical director, told Gulf Times yesterday the devices seem to be very effective and innovative.

“They can be good examples of preventive care and wellness. When the Supreme Council of Health approves them, we will consider using them in the hospital.”

The Blood Circulation Analyser, a first for the region, can check the robustness of a person’s heart. Vaibhav Srivastava, CEO of Al Sulaiman Health, explained that the innovative device can tell the status of one’s heart.

“It can find out through a simple step of one-minute analysis whether there is any critical problem with the heart and need to consult a cardiologist.”

“People approach a cardiologist only when they feel chest pain. By using this device any physician can asses the state of the heart of a person and give him feedback or caution him for immediate action. This is a great example of preventive care.”

The Body Composition Analysis equipment measures body fat, basic metabolic rate and hydration levels using a patented near-infrared technology.

The Home Monitoring equipment has a remote patient monitoring and telehealth system designed to monitor the chronically ill. Doctors at the hospital can asses the health of the patients even when they are at home and provide medications accordingly. If there are any serious issues with the patients, the device will give alarms that will immediately alert everyone to provide immediate treatment for the patients.

Srivastava said Al Ahli Hosptial was selected for the equipment trials as it is the largest private hospital in Qatar catering to a large Qatari as well as expatriate population.

“Al Ahli Hospital is in the forefront of bringing the latest technology to address the concerns of patients as well as enhancing customer care.”

He also pointed out that these are most suitable devices to quickly test patients as part of an initial screening before further diagnostics or tests are carried out. These products are from Futrex, USA and VoCare, US.

“We have approached the Supreme Council of Health for approval to use these devices in Qatar and we hope to receive the same soon,” he added.
