Eisa al-Hammadi speaks on the sidelines of 3rd International Industrial Rocks and Construction Materials Forum and Expo in Fujairah.

Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) in association with the (Ashghal) and the country’s private sector took part in the 3rd International Industrial Rocks and Construction Materials Forum and Expo in Fujairah that concluded today.
Public Works Authority being one of QPMC’s major clients, the company discussed Ashghal’s gabbro, asphalt, concrete and cement aggregates’ requirements, for its projects in Qatar.
This, in turn, will ensure suppliers conform to Ashghal’s requirements pertaining to quality control, testing, traceability and environmental issues. Also discussed was enhancement of facilities to minimise vessel queueing and waiting times at the port’s berthing area, because of lengthy procedures and shipping traffic, which could affect the quality of the primary materials due to longer exposure to climate and storage conditions.
QPMC chief executive officer Eisa al-Hammadi said in Fujairah, “QPMC strives to create Qatar’s first quality marked aggregate. To that end, QPMC’s presence in Fujairah serves to set parameters for quality control with aggregate suppliers and to ensure full compliance with Qatar Construction Standards and Ashghal’s specifications. By helping create unified cargo regulations and a dedicated supply chain corridor with our suppliers and clients, we aim to reduce logistic cost and incentivise quarry owners by earning more through greater production and exports.”
To meet its objective of facilitating the construction boom in Qatar, QPMC is creating a strategic stockpile of aggregates for the country and operates a jetty in Lusail, a gabbro berth terminal in Mesaieed Port, which will have an unloading capacity of 34mn tonnes a year by 2016, and a floating jetty and stockpile in Ras Laffan, which will be ready by June 2015 to import 7.5mn tonnes of gabbro a year.
In addition to developing gabbro quarries outside of Qatar, mainly in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE and Khatmat Malaha in Oman, and the sea logistic supply chain; QPMC also provides complete solutions for the transport, storage and delivery of key primary materials in Qatar.
It produces washed sand and is constructing a cement silo at the gabbro berths to store and discharge over 2mn tonnes of imported cement annually to meet any increased demand.
