Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) along with Qatar’s leading producers represented the country’s chemical and petrochemical industry at the GPCA Annual Forum 2014 held in Dubai from November 23 to 25.

The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) forum gathered industry leaders from more than 39 countries with the main theme of “Strategic Direction of the Chemical Industry.”

Muntajat CEO Abdulrahman Ali al-Abdulla said, “We are delighted to return to the GPCA Annual Forum to meet and discuss with peers and colleagues the strategic direction of the region’s industry.”

He added, “This year’s meeting brought great discussion on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the Gulf’s downstream industry. Our participation strengthens Muntajat’s position as a leader in the marketing and distribution of downstream products and demonstrates the value proposition of Qatar’s chemical, polymer and fertiliser products to international customers.”

Launching the next stage of its commercial activities, Muntajat’s global marketing subsidiary is building its presence by establishing a network of marketing offices worldwide that will serve local and international customers.

“Over the past year, Muntajat has established its global marketing subsidiary which has already opened 16 international offices worldwide. This expansion brought our operation closer to our global customers. Our aim at Muntajat is to broaden the market for the chemicals and petrochemicals produced in the State of Qatar, which also serves to grow the prominence of the Gulf region on the global marketplace,” al-Abdulla said.

Dr Mohamed Yousef al-Mulla, CEO and vice chairman of Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) and Qatofin, said, “Along with Qatar’s downstream producing entities, we are proud to represent the strength of our national petrochemical industry and highlight the magnitude of the contribution of ‘Made in Qatar’ petrochemicals.”

Qatar Chemical Company (QChem, QChem-II) general manager Ahmed al-Emadi said, “The GPCA Annual Forum is an important opportunity for the downstream industry to come together. By coming together, we are able to demonstrate the vast array of products available from the State of Qatar.”

Qatar Fuel Additives Company (Qafac) CEO Nasser Jeham al-Kuwari said, “Industry peers from the Gulf region and the world will see the strength of Qatar’s chemicals and petrochemicals industry via our collaboration at the GCPA Annual Forum 2014. It’s a great opportunity to reflect the solid foundations of Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical industry which has built a world-class reputation over the past four decades.”

Since starting its operations in February 2013, Muntajat now accounts for the marketing, sales, and distribution activities of 90% of chemicals, polymers, and fertilisers produced in Qatar. The company aims to complete the full migration in the following weeks.

Muntajat is delivering on its promise to be the gateway for Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical products with more than 15mn tonnes of chemicals, polymers, and fertilisers shipped to more than 120 countries around the world, a statement said.
